2023 Sacramento Mustang & Burro Challenge & Wild Showdown Open Show

The Mustang Challenge will travel to Murieta Equestrian Center 
June, 9-11, 2023 DURING the Western States Horse Expo.

In correlation with the Mustang Heritage Foundation and the BLM Wild Horse & Burro Program youth and adults will have approx. 90 days to gentle and train a wild Mustang and/or Burro in preparation for this competition. Competitors will compete in 3 in-hand classes on Friday & Saturday (handling&conditioning, trail and freestyle) to determine who will take home a share of the $50,000 in cash & prizes!

  • This competition is for ALL equestrians regardless of discipline or skill level (amateur and youth friendly)
  • You do not need to be a TIP Trainer to do this competition.
  • You do not need to have experience training a mustang to do this competition.

We promise a fun, supportive environment and show experience!

WILD SHOWDOWN OPEN MUSTANG SHOW – info on this will come out after TIP Challenge pick up February 17&18th.
In conjunction with the Mustang Challenge there will be a show open to all BLM mustangs, Forestry Mustangs, State Mustangs and Reservation Mustangs. This show will include in-hand and ridden classes. Classes will range from rail classes, to gymkhana, to jumping and ranch riding.

  • STEP 3: Complete BLM Online Corral application.
  • STEP 4: Complete TIP Challenge application.
  • STEP 5: Submit completed application (BLM approval screenshot, TIP Challenge app, Headshot and Bio) on or after 12:01AM on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
