Sanoma Blakeley

WSHE Presents Sanoma Blakeley

Sanoma Blakeley is an endurance rider from Central Oregon and the author of Chasing Dreams: The True Story of the Youngest Female Tevis Cup Champion. Sanoma has been competing in endurance racing for 17 years. She completed her first 25 mile ride when she was seven years old, and has since competed in 118 competitions with 34 different horses. She has won 33 races, placed second 14 times, and finished third 17 times. She has completed the Tevis Cup, the most famous and challenging 100-mile endurance horse race in the world, 4 times, for the first time when she was 12, won at 18 and finished in 3rd and 4th place in the last 2 years. Sanoma loves going fast with her fastest 50 mile race being in 4:05, but she also believes in the importance of taking care of her best friends and has won the best condition award 22 times despite most of her racing career being as a junior and young rider. Sanoma loves horses, writing and traveling. She has ridden horses on 4 continents and trained with Al Raad Endurance Team in Abu-Dhabi. Sanoma lives near Bend, Oregon, where she works at her family’s horse training facility, Blakeley Endurance Stables.
