Born near New York City, her early love of horses was evident when she would chase mounted policemen, asking endless questions about their horses. Thirty years in England gave her the chance to study horsemanship and compete in eventing and dressage. She has always had a special fascination for wild horses. When she moved to No. California in 2006, she met an older, ungentled mustang at her local animal control facility. She adopted him. With good care and one-step-at-a-time patience, Taylor went from wild and neglected to become a trusted friend, trail horse, and more. With additional training, he qualified as a therapeutic riding horse – a reliable source of kindness and confidence for children with Down syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy. His touching, true story is told through Taylor’s eyes in The Mighty Mustang from Devil’s Garden. “It’s my heartfelt tribute to this remarkable horse,” Ferguson says, “and to all these magnificent horses, just waiting for knowledgeable homes.”
