Clay is midwestern raised, spending much of his childhood showing horses. He moved west at 19, where he was introduced to wild horses and the art of ranching. For Clay, improved horsemanship has been a steady focus and he believes a quiet, yet effective way of handling horses can be achieved by better understanding their mental and physical needs. In his process, Clay often employs well-seasoned ranch horses to assist in gaining the trust and respect of young and wild horses. Currently residing in Twin Oaks, CA, Clay and his wife Kelin maintain a small cow-calf ranch and host BLM wild horses and burros for training. Their work with horses is shared with US Veterans and other groups through the non-profit organization Equine Empowered Training.
