Dr. Jessica Morgan is an Associate Professor and the Associate Director of the Center for Equine Health at the UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine. She specializes in equine sports medicine, cardiology, and rehabilitation and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Morgan’s research focuses on understanding equine performance limitations, especially as it pertains to the heart, orthopedics, and overall fitness. Her laboratory studies how the horse’s body responds to physical activity, with the goal of helping horses stay healthy, strong, and active for as long as possible.
Dr. Morgan will provide an overview of the tools on the market to monitor your horse's fitness, from taking vitals to high-tech monitors. She will discuss some of the techniques you can use to detect if your horse is fit enough for your next activity and what early warning signs to watch for that might suggest an illness or injury is affecting their overall fitness.
