Growing up as an Equine veterinarian’s daughter, Jessie became a competitive rider early in her youth. These immersive experiences in equine wellness and welfare created a deeply ingrained passion to help horses not just to perform at their peak potential, but to do so willingly and as healthy, happy, and pain-free as possible. Jessie decided early on that she would work to improve as many horses’ athletic performance and lives by using proven modalities of bodywork in conjunction with veterinarian support.
Sports Therapy fascinated her from the moment she first had a horse worked on by a massage therapist. Jessie watched as her horse fell asleep, and visually released both physical and emotional tension. Since then, she has immersed herself in learning as much about equine bodywork as possible holding several certifications in different types of bodywork and wellness modalities, not to mention the invaluable knowledge that has been shared with her by several well-respected professionals in the field, claiming, “ I would not be half the bodyworker, equestrian, or person that I am today without them!”
Jessie has made a reputation for herself as having one of the best “eyes” in assessing a horse’s structure and what functions are most likely creating the physical manifestations presented. Once these external physical manifestations are identified, Jessie loves to explain and work with the horse, rider, and trainer, using various modalities to improve the horse’s performance, attitude, and performance. Jessie loves her work and each horse that she meets. Jessie once said, “There is just nothing else like walking into the stall of a horse that is anxious and jumpy due to unaddressed pain, showing them that you understand, and then watching as they release their tension becoming supple and in effect, relaxed.” Horse owners are amazed when they see their horse who they claim to be insecure, spooky, or even aggressive, exhibit a dramatic change; often ending the session by resting their head on Jessie’s shoulder- grateful to finally be able to “let go.” It never ceases to melt an owner’s heart, and Jessie’s too! Horses are such beautiful animals inside and out. They so desperately want to communicate with us and do as we ask. Jessie truly believes that when discomfort is blocking them from doing what we ask, the horse becomes more frustrated than us. When you open the door for them to move freely, the gratitude in their eyes is the most rewarding thing one may ever experience.
Jessie has had the opportunity to aid multiple show jumpers, cutters, dressage horses, reiners, pleasure horses, and everything in between, to reach the top of their game, and she will be forever thankful for everything each one of them has taught her.
