Katie Hatch is the Research Scientist for Equine Health Programs at the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Animal Health Branch. Prior to her work at CDFA, she worked as the Large Animal Clinic Coordinator at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. She is a lifelong equestrian, starting riding at the age of three, and has been able to turn her love and passion for horses into a career. Her professional focus is on equine infectious disease response, biosecurity, and epidemiology. Additionally, she is a certified disaster worker through the Solano Community Animal Response Team and a technician member of the Northern California Association of Equine Practitioners.
