I was raised in a horse-training family in Vermont, studied dressage throughout Europe, and eventually settled in California. Roughly 20 years ago, I realized that many of the training “problems” horses struggled with stemmed from insufficient fitness or not being able to use their bodies optimally. They lacked strength and coordination, they had muscle imbalances, they were stiff, and they were bored. Meanwhile, horse training had become too specialized and way too complicated.
We needed simple, straightforward tools to help horses use their bodies more athletically, as nature intended.
This prompted me to write my first book in 2005, 101 Dressage Exercises for Horse and Rider, which was endorsed by the United States Dressage Federation. Four other training and fitness-related books followed, most recently 33 Strength and Fitness Workouts for Horses.
Today, I work with students and their equine athletes across the globe through my publications, customized fitness plans, online courses, and in-person clinics.
